BAE Systems has been awarded two follow-on orders totaling $15.5 million from the U.S. Army for production of Core Rifleman and Large Rucksack Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment (MOLLE) system sets. The MOLLE system is the primary field equipment piece for the U.S. Armed Forces and incorporates 37 components. Primarily comprised of vests, pockets, packs, and hydration systems, the MOLLE system enables soldiers to carry the necessary equipment critical to their mission.
The external frame and quick release mechanism improves mission effectiveness without compromising mobility. The MOLLE system is fully adjustable to accommodate body armor and allows for easy removal of the large rucksack while maintaining use of the Fighting Load Carrier (FLC) vest and pockets.
Issued under a $258.9 million multi-year contract received in August 2006, these orders bring the total accumulated amount awarded to $169 million.
