Indian Navy Ships on a 5 Day visit to Vietnam

INS Mysore and INS Ranjit, have arrived at Sai Gon Port beginning a five-day friendship visit to Ho Chi Minh City.

The ships are commanded by Rear Admiral R.K. Dhowan, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet.Rear Admiral Dhowan and other senior officers on Monday placed a wreath at the statute of President Ho Chi Minh and met with leaders of the HCM City People’s Committee, the commands of Military Region 7, and the Viet Nam People’s Navy.

Last year on 8 May,2006, three Indian Navy ships commanded by Rear Admiral DK Joshi, a Flag Officer of the Indian Navy, had arrived for a four-day friendship visit to Da Nang in the central coast.

Rear Admiral Joshi and officers had met with Deputy Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Van Huu Chien and Deputy Commander of Military Zone 5, Major-General Tran Cong Thuc. The guests also had the chance to visit Naval Area C.

This visit is aimed at enhancing the bonds of friendship between India and Viet Nam, as a part of their common endeavour to develop a multi-faceted relationship including the military domain.
