India releases data for infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir for last 3 years

According to available information, estimated infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir during the last three years has been as under:
2005: 597 terrorists
2006: 573 terrorists
2007: 499 terrorists
(2007 figures till October)
These figures include those of militants who were apprehended or killed while crossing the LoC/borders.
As per available information, over 4000 illegal weapons, including AK-47 Rifles, Pistols/Revolvers, UMGs/LMGs, Rocket Launchers/Boosters and huge quantities of ammunition and explosives/IEDs have been recovered in J&K. According to available information, around 450 kgs. of narcotics/heroin, suspected to have been sourced from Pakistan, has been seized in the Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab sectors during the last 3 years.
The security situation in Jammu & Kashmir in terms of the number of terrorist incidents and casualties has improved significantly during the last 3 years.
Besides, as per available information, 54 espionage modules have been busted in different parts of the country during the period from 2005 to 31.10.2007.
