Inda to develop more roads at borders

The Indian home ministry stated that is considering a proposal for construction of roads along the India- Nepal and India-Bhutan borders. The development of border roads along the India-Nepal border would improve border infrastructure thereby leading to enhanced connectivity and promote cross-border economic integration and development of the area.

This would also be helpful in effective patrolling and communication and check trans-border crimes and anti-national activities. This will also facilitate better movement of border guarding forces.

In addition Indian defence ministry says that 171 roads of strategic importance are under construction in bordering areas since 1993 onwards.

Border Roads Organisation has been restructured to provide sufficient manpower along with enhanced budget allocation so as to ensure timely completion.
