DIPR organises international conference on psychological assessment

More than 200 delegates from India and abroad will participate in “International conference on psychological assessment in Personnel Selection.” Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR), a laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is organising this 3 day seminar. Various aspects of personnel selection like psychological aspects of job analysis, criterion oriented personnel selection, development of psychological tests, systems approach to psychological assessments, current approaches and future perspectives, and ethical and gender issues related to personnel seletion will be covered in this conference. Prof. Robert Hogan (US), Dr. Richard Brady (UK), Prof. JP Das (Canada), Prof. Chockalingam Viswesvaran (US), Prof. Filip Lievens (Belgium), Dr. Scott Hamilton (US), Mr. Oussama Mansour (Dubai) and Prof. Udai Pareek (India) are the main key note speakers.

Senior officers of the Army, Navy, Air Force and DRDO will be participating in the conference. Twenty nine papers will be presented by Indian and foreign delegates in six sessions. In addition, more than 30 posters depicting research studies by academicians and practioners will be exbibited during thus conference. On the concluding day, there will be an invited speech by HH Ramakrishananda Saraswathy Swamigal, the Athrwa Veda Sankaracharya of the Srividya Peetam, on “The Spiritual Quotient”

Leading personnel selection organisations like DDI Pune, Profile International (Middle East), and Penna (UK) are participating in this conference, who will show case the various selection systems developed by them and are currently available in the world. The objective of this conference is to reemphasis the importance of psychological assessment in personnel selection and will provide a platform for researchers and practioners to come together, interact and exchange ideas. Close interaction between Indian and foreign researchers in the filed of personnel selection will open new avenues of collaborative research. Organisations recruiting large number of employees and academicians are the main beneficiaries. This is the first time that an international conference with the theme of personnel selection is being organised in India, claim the conveners.

The Defence Minister will release a book “Psychological Assessment in Personnel Selection” edited by Dr. S. Subramony and Sh. SB Raj and published by the Defence Institute of Psychological Research during this conference.
